Frank Lloyd Wright House
I went on another journey in Malibu the weekend before last at an amazing property owned by the Wright family. Frank never finished this house, but it looks like the family is continuing to build upon his vision.

View of Malibu
The view from the house overlooks the Pacific Ocean, and down below you can see the pier in Malibu. It is an amazing place to watch the sunset. This last time the sky was a bit hazy, and we spent much of the evening above the clouds.

The Medicine Wheel
During the dark hallows of the night, well beyond dusk a friend and I sat atop the hill by the medicine wheel. We sat quietly in the darkness gazing upon the ever glowing and changing lights in the distant sky. We witnessed the clouds as they ascended the mountaintops and surrounded us with a damp chill. They enveloped us slowly and then passed on beyond us.

Waterfall & Pond
But I must digress back to the beginning. My journey began with the admiration of the beauty of nature as I sat by the tranquil pond. As I appreciated the soothing sound of the falling water, watching the flow of the water reminded me of the importance of embracing the flow of life. When water and life are still, stagnancy results because little or nothing changes. The beauty resides in going with the flow, embracing change, and trusting your course.
From my resting place near the pond, I shifted my attention to the majestic rock formations and the gorgeous setting sun. The rocks embodied their pride as they stood strong, tall, and solid. The sun shimmered with brilliant hues of orange and red as she shimmied down away behind the rocks and mountains.

The Womb Rock
I wandered toward the womb rock, where you can lay in the indentation on the top of this rock. When you assume the fetal position, you discover you fit perfectly inside of the rock’s womb. As she surrounds and protects you, she provides an amazing sensation of safety and warmth. The last time I was there as I lay inside the rock I thought how strange it would be to be the womb rather than within the womb.

The Lizard's Throne
However, I didn’t make it all the way over to the womb rock until the next morning because I became distracted by the lizard’s throne. I was drawn to the little wooden throne, but as I approached it I noticed the tiniest lizard sitting there. Not wanting to frighten him, I stopped and began watching him. I told him I wouldn’t hurt him and to my surprise he not only hung around, but he also moved closer to me.

The Trust Throne
Some other friends wandered over a few at a time. As they did I mentioned this little lizard that was teaching me about trust. He even let one woman sit on the throne with him. I never did sit on the lizard throne, but in hindsight the lesson in trust was far more valuable.
I imagine next time I return I will revisit the trust throne and perhaps even deserve to sit there. Nature speaks, but do we listen? Yes, I got the messages this time around.
